“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the Gospel of God.”
-Romans 1:1

Called to be an apostle . . .

What is my role within the Kingdom?

God’s Kingdom is all inclusive.

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle.

Set apart for the Gospel of God . . .

We serve in a way that reflects God’s grace, breathes life into people, and honors God.

“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.”
-Ephesians 6:5-8

“Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.” -Titus 2:9-10

A servant of Christ Jesus . . .

servant = doulos = slave

“But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’ then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.”
-Exodus 21:5-6

“But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves and your family and is well off with you, then take an awl and push it through his ear lobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your maidservant.”
-Deuteronomy 15:16-17

We were slaves to sin, Jesus paid the price to set us free, we have been set free to make a choice.

We choose to be servants/slaves to Jesus Christ.

A good servant does everything their master commands.

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
-Luke 6:46

“If you love me, you will obey what I command . . . Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me . . . If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.”
-John 14:15,21,23
