A Short Walk in Conflict, Leads to Our Eternal Promise

So now we see Isaac’s journey as he is facing similar struggles that his father faced. There is s famine in the land like there was before with Abraham. But unlike Abraham, God told Isaac not to go to Egypt but to stay in the land of the Philistines, so he stays in Gerar. God now re-affirms His promise to Isaac that He gave to Abraham that his descendants will inherit the land and be blessed. God also speaks to the coming of the Messiah in verse 4 who will also come from Isaac’s seed. “and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;”
