Are We Turning Many to Righteousness?

Are We Turning Many to Righteousness?

12/18/2016

When Jesus was on the earth, He came to seek and save the lost, preaching His gospel and making disciples who follow Him. Even before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave commandment to all his disciples and apostles to preach His gospel to every creature, and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe all that He commands them.

Yet, in today's world of Christian television evangelism, the gospel of Christ which calls all men to repent, and the message of the cross (to follow Jesus) has been replaced with worldly pursuits, the wisdom and ideas of men, the desire to be a popular church or have a popular message.

It's no wonder Jesus said in Luke 6:46, "And why call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"; or Matthew 7:23-27, "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

The absence of biblical repentance, the preaching and teaching of the sound doctrine of God's word, ministered by God's people who embrace the cross of Christ in their own lives and ministries has led wickedness to increase greatly in the earth, and especially in America. The power and conviction of the truth and the Holy Spirit is rarely seen and heard because the Holy Spirit will only bear witness to the truth, the gospel truth.

Yet, in times past, God has winked at the ignorance of men who have not known Him or walked in his ways in the past, yet commands all men to repent, pick up their cross daily and follow Jesus. To those who seek the Lord daily, reading and studying His word, and are led by His Holy Spirit, their lives and ministry to the Lord's work will go from faith to faith and glory to glory.

To those have have not heard the gospel preached and who don't repent now while time is on their side - they may learn righteousness when God's acts of indignation or wrath begin to unfold on the earth. As Isaiah 26:9-10 says, "With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for WHEN YOUR JUDGMENTS ARE IN THE EARTH, THE INHABITANTS OF THE WORLD WILL LEARN RIGHTEOUSNESS. Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD."

Yet, for those who hear the truth and hold the truth in unrighteousness, the righteous judgment of God will come to those who do not repent and turn away from things the scripture forbids. Hebrews 10:26-27 says, "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."

And Amos 5:1-8 says, "Hear this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel. The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up. For thus says the Lord God; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel. For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, seek Me, and ye shall live: But seek not Beth–el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer–sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth–el shall come to nought. Seek the Lord, and you shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Beth–el. You who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth, Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name:"

In this critical and timely message, God strongly reveals to His ministers and people about TURNING MANY TO RIGHTEOUSNESS. As Daniel 11:3 says, "they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."
