So now Jacob is ready to go home, but he is still dealing with a shrewd father in law. We will see in the next chapter that Laban can’t be trusted in any arrangement that he makes and changes the deal multiple times. He has now worked for Laban for 14 years. Seven for Leah, and seven for Rachel. While God has blessed him with a large family, he still has nothing to his name. Everything belongs to Laban. Now Laban knows that he is blessed by God because of Jacob. For us today, in our work, in our families, and other relationships, our relationship with the Lord should be such that those around us are blessed because God is blessing us, even if those around us are not people we can trust.
